At SP300, we’re no strangers to strange faults – and this week’s job was definitely one of those head-scratchers!
We had a silver 2018 Audi A4 Avant 3.0L TDI Quattro in the garage. The customer was having trouble with the automatic tailgate – it simply wouldn’t open when pressing the button. Instead, the car would just beep three times and nothing else would happen.
We carried out several diagnostic checks, but no obvious part failures were showing up. The fault codes suggested there was a blockage or obstruction in the tailgate system, but when we carefully removed all the boot trims and inspected the mechanisms and motors, everything looked to be in working order.
After a lot of testing and checking, we finally found the root of the issue – a fault in the Tailgate Control Module. Once we fitted a replacement module, the tailgate came back to life and worked perfectly.
The customer was relieved and grateful that it wasn’t something more serious or costly. It’s always satisfying to get to the bottom of tricky problems like this.
