At SP300 in Dronfield, we see all types of cars come through our garage – from everyday vehicles to something a little more special. This week started with a quick but interesting job on a 1990s Porsche 911 Carrera.
This particular model is a rear-wheel drive 996 with a manual gearbox, no traction control, and a 3.4L V6 engine. Not only does it look fantastic, but it also gives the pure driving experience Porsche fans love – in short, it’s a lot of fun to drive!
The customer came to us with a very unusual fault – the horn would go off every time they drove over bumps in the road. Not only was this frustrating, but it could also be embarrassing and distracting while driving.
The Repair
Our skilled technicians carefully removed and checked the steering wheel and its components. After a full inspection, we found that the issue was with the slip ring on the steering wheel. Luckily, no new parts were needed – it simply required a careful adjustment.
With the fault fixed, the customer was soon back on the road enjoying their 911. The repair was completed with just a small labour charge, proving that not every repair has to be costly.
